Repairs: Scouts to the rescue- On June 7th Equi-Star welcomed over 50 Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, thier leaders and family members to the ranch. They arrived with shovles, pitchforks, rakes and lots of enthusiasm. The Scouts asked if there was a project that they coud help us with and Miriam presented them with a list of project to chose from. They decided to tackle them all! Under the supervision of their leaders, the Scouts were quickly organized and set to work. With in three hours, all of the jobs had been completed along with some that weren't on the list. Those who paticipated were from Troop 8, Troop 904, and Troop 359.

Some of the boys tackled the job of spreading stone dust in the horses stalls: this gives the horses a level place to stand and provides good drainage. Other boys spread wood chips on the wooded riding trail. Another team trimmed back the trees along the trail. Now our riders can enjoy a ride through the woods. A group of girls decided to spread wood chips in the arena to keep the dust down. New shurbs were planted around the house, and the old bushes all got trimmed. The gardens was weeded and new wood was installed on the bleachers.

These projects where made possiable through donations from Chuck Bracey Company, Stedman's Nursery, Shelby Stone and Gravel, and Dennis Weeks. Mary Whitman, Equi-Star board member said, " Having this work done is like a dream come true." We were impressed with the amount of jobs that were complete, and the quality of the work and the general attitude of the Scouts. BIG THANKS GO OUT TO THE SCOUTS AND EVERYONE WHO HELPED WITH THE PROJECTS!

SPECIAL THANKS TO DENNIS WEEKS & COWBOY JOHN

SAND: This past summer was hot, hot, hot, and wet, wet, wet! Our outdoor riding arena was flooded more often then not, and the indoor arena was still and humid. Our good friend, Dennis Weeks came to our rescue just in time for the Special Olympics 2009. He made MANY trips with his dump truck and dumped loads of sand in the arena. Cowboy John was left with the task of leveling it all out. His hard work paid off and we have a beautiful riding surface. Thanks to Dennis Weeks for the Delivery and Cowboy John for all the hard work.
